The giants were made as part of a 10 day workshop with the community.

The event contained performance elements based on the local story of a mermaid and Peredur the fisherman. Aspects of the story were played out during the procession.

The final parade consisted of a 35ft mermaid, 15ft dolphin on a tricycle, a 12 ft giant man, a pirate ship on a trolley + many pirates in costume, a prehistoric 10ft fish, and many small fish with costume and origami fish heads , giant manta ray, jugglers and the procession band.

Giant parades in Clonmel Tipperary The republic of Ireland

1997-1999

The Christmas parade in Clonmel ,Tipperary, Ireland was something else in 1997 as four huge puppets appeared through the medieval arch in a cloud of red smoke. The crowd spilled over the pavement in their excitement to get close to the Giant Snow Princess, the snapping giant King Rat ,the fierce automated Terminator and the strange and mysterious Forest Plant. Choreographed set pieces were performed on the way with costumed attendants interacting with the giants and between the groups on parade. This unique sight was the result of a weeks workshop for four groups with Small World Theatre staff co ordinating and facilitating the giant puppet building. This exciting and memorable experience was enjoyed by thousands of people as they filled the streets to witness an astonishing spectacle. Commissions of this sort are available for your event by contacting Small World Theatre,
