Diogel?/ Safe? is the story of Tamba a young boy from West Africa who has become a refugee and now lives in Wales

The world spins and opens to reveal Tamba and Sian in the playground of their school, playing with a remote control truck. This sparks off memories for Tamba about how he had to escape his country with his mother and sister in the back of a truck. Sian has never been to Africa but she once went on holiday to Spain. She can not imagine what Tamba's life was like in Africa.
Tamba explains

how he and his sister were playing at home one day while their father was out on a pro democracy demonstration. Their mother, who is a journalist by profession, was working from home. Tamba's father sent word for the family to leave the country as he has been arrested and fears for their safety.

They cram into the back of a truck with others fleeing oppression and persecution and we follow their long and difficult journey to Britain.
The show for 7 to 13 year olds ends with opportunities for the audience to discuss the play, and to ask direct questions of the refugee mentor about his experience as a refugee and asylum seeker.
"A fantastic play, so innovative, the children were really engaged" (teacher Swansea May 2002)
