Smooth. Smooth. Smooth. Smooth.

Smooth 2 Phase7

We are now entering 2008 with a new phase of the smooth project. This continues our arts culture and food culture exploration. Three main aspects of this work will relate to a separate & distinct project that will create a resource printed recipe cards and related stories and a community feast.

Towards this feast the cooking days are hosted at Theatr Mwldan the results are served up in the theatr foyer. This part of the project is called "No Such Thing as a Free Lunch" and as such we invite the public to come and share the feast but to also feel free to tell a story especially if it related to the food being served. This low pressure story telling started with Bill Hamblett SWT's Artistic Director telling a Sudanese story about a farmer and his inheritance called "The Search for Gold" while we all enjoyed a spread of vegetarian dishes inspired by middle eastern and Arabic cuisine.

A experiential trip to Margham Park near Port Talbot to gather inspiration from the sculpture trail the environment and the house. We will now create an environment in our new building from the objects that one section of the community group will contrive. Another group will create the food for a feast at the centre of the event . Some people have signed up for both courses that will also gain them an Open College Network (OCN) qualification.

PANCAKE DAY

The 2006 Cardigan River and food festival was again the performance and presentation focus of the project. However the Smooth project has developed to include Open College Network accreditation for some of the participants. Giant construction and costume making is the main part of this.

The Smooth Project will soon be getting even smoother.

We are making a bicycle powered smoothie machine to continue with the healthy eating aspect of this project. We predict a show will develop too.

Food hygiene courses will be taken by some participants soon.

Open College Network training that SWT has delivered has gained certification for 4 participants each passing in 3 subjects. Community Arts, Giant Building and Costume Making.

Groups from the Ridgeway Housing Estate also attend the arts activities and some act as volunteers for work carried out in conjunction with the Integrated Children's Centre and open access play
