The experience of the 1995 project led SWT and John
Winslade of Community Education in Ely to the opinion that there was a need
for sustainable creative intergenerational projects on the estate. Initial
research suggested that the 1997 project should transfer focus to the secondary
schools where gangs of youth were involved in car crime, muggings and other
anti social activities. Tensions on the estate were high.
The
linked pages from this section of the site are extracted from the final report
with additional video reportage as it appeared on a series of
HTV television news items. This was an extremely successful
community based project with relatively high production values.
Funds
were sought to enable work with secondary school children from years 7 to
10 and pensioners from Ely estate.
