THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES STARTS WITH THE FIRST STEP

A show for 8 to 13 year olds
This powerful drama uses puppets and actors with original music composed by ADRIAN WAGNER.
The research for this story was done by Ann Shrosbree and Bill Hamblett in Hong Kong and Vietnam. It was sponsored by the NUFFIELD FOUNDATION.
The resulting performance was commissioned by Save the children

MOVING! follows the story of Nên and Tuè, two Vietnamese children, who make the perilous journey across the South China Sea to a refugee camp in Hong Kong from where they are eventually sent to Britain. The story attempts to portray universal aspects of how it feels to be forced to leave your home and adapt to a new and often hostile culture.
MOVING ! is a unique performance that speaks with an authenticity which provokes a powerful emotional response. In the last scene the two main characters come out and interact with the audience bringing up questions about how strangers are accepted into a community.
