The Great Outdoors 2012

October 12th saw the launch of ‘The Great Outdoors 2012’ - Wales’ first National Conference for Outdoor Performance presented by Articulture Wales and supported by Arts Council Wales, Independent Street Arts Network, National Theatre Wales, Small World Theatre, Walk The Plank, Citrus Arts, Emergency Exit Arts, and NoFitState Circus.

'We have had amazing support from leading outdoor arts organisations both in Wales and UK wide, including the wonderful Ann and Bill from Small World in developing The Great Outdoors 2012. We are really chuffed that they are going to be present at the event to contribute their knowledge and expertise.'
Annie Grundy Co Director, Articulture Wales

Created with and featuring key speakers from leading organisations including the Arts Council Wales, Independent Street Arts Network, National Theatre Wales, Walk The Plank, Citrus Arts, Emergency Exit Arts, and NoFitState Circus. The Great Outdoors aims to spark ambitious new works across all outdoor art forms here in Wales, by providing a platform to network, share and develop ideas, access funding, and forge collaborations. This includes street theatre, carnival, procession, puppetry, circus, and arts installation.

The Great Outdoors was initiated to unite Welsh outdoor arts practitioners who are currently widely dispersed across Wales. It recognises that despite an exceptional resource of successful artists and organisations, and Welsh funding dedicated to the form, this dispersal needs to be addressed to ensure a vibrant future for Outdoor Performance in Wales.
