Public Lantern Making

  • Bath-House Road Cardigan, Wales, SA43 United Kingdom (map)

23/11/25 - 10am - 3pm

£3 per lantern

Booking is essential because places are limited.

We're delighted to announce this year's Cardigan Giant Lantern Parade on 5 December - 7pm, thanks to new project funding for a Festival of Light receiving financial support from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, administrated and supported by the Cynnal y Cardi Team for Ceredigion County Council.

Suitable

Lantern Making is suitable for ages 8+ and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Families with younger children are encouraged to work together. Book a place for each lantern maker attending over the age of 8. Young children must work with a parent/guardian, so please book one place for both of you.

Lantern Making Guidelines for the Public

Please arrive on time at 10am because it takes a day to make a lantern from scratch using willow, tissue paper and glue.

Please bring an apron and a packed lunch.

Spend the morning creating your lantern framework using sustainably grown willow. Get messy in the afternoon adding glue and tissue paper to your frame. All lanterns are stored safely at Small World Theatre until the Parade.
