Small World is delighted to welcome a brilliant double bill to the stage, featuring one of our all-time favourites, Marty O’Reilly (USA), alongside a warm Welsh welcome for Lily Palmer (USA).
Marty will be hot-footing it here from California after a prestigious solo slot at High Sierra Music Festival. Marty’s music feels timeless, like an old story told in a new way. His raw, soulful voice and gritty guitar playing form the foundation of a sound rooted in Americana. Drawing inspiration from folk icons like Woody Guthrie, blues legends like Howlin’ Wolf, gospel pioneers like Sister Rosetta Thorpe, and storytellers like Tom Waits, Marty’s music captivates and connects audiences.
His live shows aren’t just concerts, they’re cathartic experiences. One moment it’s soft and haunting, the next it’s wild and electric. The kind that stay with you long after the lights come up.
Marty has poured everything into his music, spending years on the road, self-funding his albums, and navigating the ups and downs of life as an independent artist, husband, and father. But through it all, he’s never lost sight of why he started: to make honest music that connects.
If you’re looking for music that feels real, that makes you stop and listen, Marty O’Reilly is someone you need to hear.
Lily will be in the UK to play at Maverick Festival before joining this tour, and then skipping across to the continent for a series of headline shows.
Born in Michigan and now a NYCer, Lily’s lyrics are spiritual and strange - vivid images that range from sludge-covered and dismal to childlike and wondrous. Every song on It Is Cyclical, Missing You was recorded live, each song in one continuous take, often with a full band in tow, produced by Talmers herself.
Lily Talmers has seen praise from NPR, No Depression, Under The Radar, and The Bluegrass Situation among others. She won the Kerrville Folk Festival's 2024 New Folk Competition and has opened for the likes of Tommy Emmanuel, The Brother Brothers, and Anna Tivel.
