Swamptalk & Open Mic

  • Bath-House Road Cardigan, Wales, SA43 1 JY United Kingdom (map)

£11

Swamptalk return to west Wales from the US and across the UK with their blend of funky rock with jazzy overtones.

Swamptalk first came together in West Wales in the late ’70s and’80s. They performed locally and further afield, releasing a single, ‘Positive Movement’ in November 1979 (to a glowing review in the Tivyside Advertiser!)

Decades after their first gigs at The Shed in Dolwilym, original members Bruce Knapp - guitar, Paul Bennett - bass, and Consi Handelsman – vocals, will be travelling from New York, London and elsewhere to perform at Small World Theatre.

They'll be joined by drummer Geoff Nicholls, percussionist Phil Layton, singer Carolyn Burnett, and perhaps a surprise guest or two.

The band had deep musical connections with the the Preseli landscape, and made lifelong friendships. This night of performance and dancing will explore those musical roots and refresh the connections that are tattooed on their hearts and minds.

Although they haven’t played together for decades, they've all continued making music in their own ways, and have put together a set of jazzy, funky blues. Road worn and with undiminished enthusiasm and musical chops, they're looking forward to this gathering with friends old and new.
