Immersed in the rich, green world of temperate rainforests
Supported by The Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity.
Temperate rainforests are rare and fragile habitats, rich in biodiversity that still exist in parts of west Wales. Reading about and visiting these magical places has inspired Ann Shrosbree to create the beginnings of a new puppetry performance for Small World Theatre.
Thanks to support from The Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity, Ann had the time and space to play, experiment, and explore the early seeds of a show. Over the course of her research, the concept began to grow roots, shaping itself into a small-scale pilot performance.
A test performance for family audiences mirrored the experience of stepping into a rainforest, drawing people in and encouraging them to slow down, breathe deeply, notice and listen.
Through a blend of foley art, sign language, and puppetry, the piece explores the deep interconnectedness of all things, and the many ways we can communicate that truth.
