I'm a Celebrity Too!

Cardigan's connection to I'm a Celebrity... Get me out of here

2020

I'm a Celebrity Too! art trail played on the popular TV show being filmed at Gwrych Castle in Conwy, and celebrates both workers and residents as ‘celebrities too’.

Small World made giant insects from reclaimed and recycled materials and installed them in the town. The installations inspired future art and environmental work; educating children, local groups and visitors on the importance of bio-diversity.

MuCurated by Oriel Colwyn, the project also commissioned photographer Niall McDiarmid to take residents’ portraits in Abergele dressed if they were going to a red carpet function.

Funded by Conwy Arts Trust, Cartrefi Conwy and Abergele Town Council. Photos by Paul Sampson.

Imagine Colwyn Bay

Cardigan's connection to I'm a Celebrity... Get me out of here

2022

The Imagine Sculpture Trail is part of the Imagine Colwyn Bay Heritage Fund Great Place Scheme. We were commissioned through an open call out to work on the project. The concepts for the trail were developed through workshops and engagement with Coleg Llandrillo Foundation Art students. Creative workshops also took place with Ysgol Nant y Groes, Penrhos Avenue Pupil Referral Unit and TAPE Music and Film’s animation club.

Small World Theatre also worked with CREST to enable people on supported placements to identify materials that could be repurposed to create sculpture installations. Working with the creative ideas and local knowledge from the young people and some excellent salvaged materials Small World Theatre set about recycling the concepts into existence!

Developed with the Bay of Colwyn Town Council’s In Bloom Committee with the support of Gwynt y Mor Wind Farm funding..
